Palms Grill in Atlanta, Illinois

Postby RoadDog on Thu May 28, 2009 1:33 am

Another long-closed Route 66 restaurant has reopened. The Palms Grill in Atlanta has opened after $500,000 was spent. Well worth a stop the next time you're cruising Illinois.

It is right downtown, across from the Tall Paul statue.

Now, if they could just do something about that hideous water tower.

Good news, this will make Atlanta more interesting. I've been seeing progress on that building for a bit and can't wait to see it finished.

I kinda like the water tower, it brings a smile :-)

We visited there this past September on our way to the Missouri Motor Tour. I highly recommend the pork tenderloin sandwich.

The Illinois Route 66 Association is (slowly) repairing the rest of the property.
I am actually trying to find out when the next 'paint party' is so I can get down there and lend a hand.
