spammers on the rise
Dear members,
Spam is on the rise in the forums at the moment. It's a futile effort as we delete their junk and we use a technique to prevent them from having use in ranking anyway.
Still your caution and cooperation could be quite useful.
In a spammy topic:
- please do not reply to the topic, your reply will need to be removed as well.
- please do not click on any links in such topic.
- please do report the trouble posts
In your own posts:
- please stay on topic, it helps spotting the spammers.
- please avoid posting the same links over and over: it brings you no good (just as it brings no good to the spammers (google for rel="nofollow" if you want to know more details) and it avoids other members reporting you ... as has happened n the previous days to some members.
Expect some harsher measures soon if this trend continues as it is doing in the last few days.
Last but not least:
I owe a productive member out here an apology. At this point I'm unsure exactly what happened to their account but I seem to have collected it up together with the spammers and zapped it just like what we do with the spammers. It's the first time it happened that I know of and I'll promise to do my very best to make sure it'll be the last time too. This is unfortunate and no matter how I could twist or turn it, it'll remain a mistake I made no matter how or why it happened.
So I need to apologize to "hotrodfords": Sorry, I messed up, and I hope y'all can forgive me.
